REPORT FROM THE 14Tth SUZUKI WORLD CONVENTION.
From April 12 to
17th a delegation composed of teachers, students and their families
(including two sibilings under a year old!) participated in the 14th
Suzuki Method World Convention, at Torino. Most of us traveled by
train leaving Rome early in the morning and gradually picking up the
CeSMI travelers at Civitavecchia and Grossetto. In Torino we went
to the Villa S. Giuseppe in the hills around Turin where we ate slept
and got a lot of exercise, having to go up 350 stairs on the hill to
reach the bedrooms! The musical experience was fabulous for
all with daily lessons by professors and students from the whole
world taught mostly in sign language and music language. The
Farewell concerts in the Sports Stadium in which all of the students
participated was an emotional experience for all.

We played for the Horses
Inspired by playing music in the open
air as we did in 2005 at the musical walk in the Arcionello park in Viterb, the
CeSMI violinists were protagonists (with the horses, of course) in the
NITRITI DI PRIMAVERA, a national fair of the Italian horse which took place in
Tuscania (VT) over the weekend of the 12th-14th May 2006. The children played
in center Ring accompanaying the steps of the cavalli. |

Our
suzuki groups were very busy in March
with a
concert at the Parco della Musica Auditoriumper for the festivites of
Unicef and another two CeSMI concerts in Viterbo and in Roma in which all of the
CeSMI students played with much inspiration. Some beatiful occasions for
our students and their families! |

WE REMEMBER SHIHOMI
On May 28th, 2006 at the Center of
Viterbo a concerto was held in the memory of our dearest teacher, collegue
and friend, the pianist Shihomi Kishida who left us one year ago. Her
former students who now study with the colleague Stefano Silvi, each played
one of the famous variations by Mozart on the theme that we know as Twinkle.

The CeSMI Youth
Orchestra
was invited to
play for the festivities of June 2 by the city of Bomarzo (VT). The concert
took place, in the mayor's presence in the monumental Orsini Palace.
It was an appropriate hall to present our young musicians who are maturing
both musically and personally. A plaque was presented to the orchestra
by the city of Bomarzo at the end of the concert. |
