Course
structure
Study
begins
with the pre-instrumental class specially designed for
preschool aged children. The class has as its scope the
neurological stimulation of the children,
so as to activate the capacities useful to begin the study of an instrument,
as well as to develop the rhythmic, melodic, coordination, mnemonic, and
disciplinary elements. The practical and theoretical difficulties
that the child will affront with the study of an instrument are
anticipated and prepared using specific exercises and games
in
the class. |

Pre-instrumental class
The class is designed for preschool aged children (from three years
old). Its objective is the formation of the rhythmic and melodic
ear, the development of large and small muscle coordination, the
development of memory, the capacity of self control and
discipline in a group setting. The lessons, one hour weekly from
October through May, are in held in groups of 12-15 children and
require the active presence of a parent.

Group Lessons
Group instrumental lessons are held once a month. They are
a moment in which children learn to play and work on skills
together They are also an
important moment for parents who have an opportunity to confront themselves
con other parents and children who have made studying music the Suzuki way a
part of their lives
The general musical formation continues parallel to the
instrumental classe with courses of :
Applied harmony, solfège, orchestra, and chamber music.

Role of Parents
In this musical learning experienced the role
of the family is fundamental. Every parent can participate in this
experience even if he or she does not read music of play an instrument.
A parent is present at the lessons, taking notes and recording the lesson so
as to be able to take on his or her role at home where he must follow his
child in his daily practice, finding with much innovation and fantasy, the
way to motivate his child to study and learn.
The difficulty and responsibility for parents
is noteworthy and it should be constant; however, this experience permits
them a special educational relationship with their child, based on a common
interest and moments of life spent together, that over time is immensely
gratifying to both of them. The parent-together with the teacher and
child- has a third of the responsibility but also one third of the
satisfaction in this path of growth.

An early start
Suzuki study generally begins in the
preschool years. The intuition that Dr. Suzuki
had on the necessity of an early beginning to the study of music has been
confirmed by scientific studies. Today we know that the human brain is
influenced by its environment, receiving stimuli that determines its
development. Every precocious information is
fundamental because neurological connections
can be made that will not be possible in such a direct, immediate and
profound way once a certain age group has passed.
